The 3 Root Blocks to Getting Pregnant (1)

The 3 Root Blocks to Getting Pregnant (That Many Women Overlook)

If you’ve been trying to conceive and feel like you’re doing everything “right”… you are not alone.

Many of the women and couples I support come to me after months, sometimes years of frustration. They’ve tracked their cycles, cleaned up their diet, and followed conventional advice, yet pregnancy still hasn’t happened.

Here is what I want you to know:

Fertility challenges are rarely random.

In my clinical experience, most cases trace back to three foundational root blocks that can quietly interfere with the body’s ability to conceive and maintain a healthy pregnancy.

Let’s walk through them.

root causes of infertility support for women trying to conceive

Block #1: Toxicities

In today’s world, our bodies are exposed to more environmental toxins than ever before, and this can directly impact fertility.

We are exposed to more toxins in one month than past generations were in their entire lives.

Most people leave the house with over 100 chemicals on them from beauty products to hair care and more.

Common sources of toxic burden include:

  • plastics and endocrine disruptors
  • pesticides and herbicides
  • mold and mycotoxins
  • heavy metals
  • personal care and household chemicals
  • chronic internal inflammation

When the toxic load becomes too high, the body often shifts into a protective, survival-focused state rather than a reproductive state.

Toxic burden can affect:

  • hormone signaling
  • egg and sperm quality
  • implantation environment
  • immune balance
  • gut health
  • mind/Body connection
  • mitochondrial function

Many women are unaware that their detox pathways may be sluggish or overwhelmed.

Supporting gentle detoxification and reducing ongoing exposures is often a key first step.

Block #2: Deficiencies

Your body requires adequate nutritional reserves to support ovulation, hormone production, and pregnancy.

Even women who eat well can experience deficiencies due to:

  • chronic stress
  • gut dysfunction
  • poor absorption
  • long-term birth control use
  • restrictive diets
  • soil nutrient depletion

Some of the most common fertility-supportive nutrients I assess include:

  • magnesium
  • zinc
  • selenium
  • iron
  • B vitamins
  • omega-3 fatty acids
  • trace minerals

When the body is depleted, it may prioritize survival functions over reproduction.

This is why foundational nourishment, both through food and targeted supplementation when appropriate, is so critical.

Block #3: Imbalances

Hormones, blood sugar, thyroid function, and the nervous system all work together in a delicate rhythm.

Even subtle imbalances can disrupt:

  • ovulation
  • cycle regularity
  • luteal phase strength
  • implantation
  • overall reproductive signaling

Common patterns I see include:

  • low progesterone
  • estrogen dominance
  • thyroid dysfunction
  • elevated cortisol from chronic stress
  • blood sugar dysregulation

Many women are told their labs are “normal,” yet they continue to experience clear symptoms.

Normal ranges do not always reflect optimal function.

This is why a root-cause, whole-body approach can be so valuable when someone is struggling to conceive.

The Fertility Puzzle Perspective

When we step back and look at the full picture, most fertility journeys are not about one single issue.

Instead, they often involve some combination of:

🧩 toxic load
🧩 nutrient depletion
🧩 hormone or metabolic imbalance

The encouraging news is that when these areas are supported appropriately, the body is often much more capable of moving toward balance and fertility readiness.

Your body is not broken - it may simply need the right pieces in place.
